Tiny Health's story begins with two wildly different births
In 2020, Cheryl Sew Hoy watched her daughter — born via C-section — struggle with eczema, restless nights, and food sensitivities. Her second child, born vaginally, faced none of it. The contrast was so stark she went looking for why.
The answer was the gut microbiome, and its outsized influence on immunity, development, and long-term disease risk, particularly in the first 1,000 days of life. With a 4-week old newborn, Cheryl assembled a team of microbiome scientists and they built something that didn’t exist: the first at-home gut and vaginal health test for mom and babies.
Since the commercial launch in 2022, we’ve served children, adults and life stages like pregnancy through menopause, and people looking to get to the root cause of chronic conditions. +150,000 people and +5000 practitioners have now used Tiny Health to see inside a system that medicine still largely treats as invisible.
